Brian Girskis - Founder
Brian
Girskis was born in Detroit, Michigan and worked for his father through
his school-age years doing contractor work. In 1977, Brian graduated
with honors from the School of Business at Wayne State University. Soon
after graduation, Brian accepted a position at Alside, a residential
division of US Steel that specialized in the manufacturing of windows
and siding. Brian learned the ins and outs of the manufacturing business
at Alside. He serviced siding and window installation contractors
throughout the Midwest. Brian saw that the Eastern Iowa & Western
Illinois market needed a specialty window, siding & door company
that would offer quality products and excellent workmanship for a fair
price. In the spring of 1985, Brian founded Suburban Construction, Inc.
Suburban Construction has become the areas largest and most respected
window, door and siding specialist between Chicago and Omaha. Brian has
been happily married to Linda since 1977. They reside in Bettendorf,
Iowa and enjoy spending time with their three sons; JR, Paul and
Patrick, and their families. Brian retired in 2013 from Suburban Construction Inc.
JR Girskis - President - Owner
JR Girskis started his career at Suburban at the young age of 7. He was
responsible for sweeping that original warehouse floor, on Grant Street
in Bettendorf, washing down the siding of the Grant Street building, and
helping unload the window delivery trucks. Eventually, JR started
riding along with his father on sales appointments and turned his
attention to canvasing neighborhoods in his high school and college
years. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2002, JR began
his full-time professional career at Suburban with strength. He
immediately began working on a new software program that is still used
today. It simplified the work necessary to keep a database of current
and past customers, current and past jobs, services and accounting. One
of JR's greatest interests is in the marketing of Suburban Construction.
Over the years he has taken great pride in updating the showroom, digital media and trying to make Suburban the best in everything we do. In 2014 JR started a distribution company Suburban Wholesale and Supply whereas he teaches a few courses from VSI (The Vinyl Siding Institute) and AAMA (The American Architectural Manufacturing Association) . In his
spare time, JR enjoys going to local sporting events. He has been blessed with an amazing wife and 3 awesome children.
